  1. Basement

From the recording Basement - it's FREE!

"Basement" is a song about people's obsession with materialistic things in contrast with the peace and fulfillment that comes through a living relationship with Jesus. Ken wrote this one year after we came back from our first trip to the USA and God had started to lead us into hardships and trials. We were discouraged. Where did we go wrong...has God left us? (Well of course not! But that's another part I'll tell you about later...)

Lyrics

BASEMENT
Composed by Kenneth Campbell Esplin

All I can see is people in the basement
So dark and lonesome deep down here
Their eyes are bland and cold
Staring into nowhere
Contorted faces filled with fear
All hopes and dreams are gone
Down here in the basement
Their lives are empty hearts are cold
Just some years ago all of them were vibrant
Climbing the mountain that promised gold
Chorus
And it's hard living in the basement
Just so hard that they can't see
So many people are living in the basement
But I will tell them how to get free

You see the human dream
Leads you to the basement
Satan wants to own your soul
Jesus paid the price for you, invite Him inside
Ask God forgiveness He'll break the hold
Repeat chorus
I'm tired of empty promises I'm tired
of being told, I’m tired of people scolding me
I'm just so tired of being alone
Repeat chorus 2x
It`s hard living in the basement
Just so hard that they won’t see
So many people are living in the basement
But I have told them how to get free
